It isn'ta tough problem for OS X. Just for XP. OS X also gives you an admin account by default, and many programs can only install with admin access, just as on Windows. The admin isn't root tho. A big difference. The setup also requests you to go thru the hoops of creating a user account that isn't admin or root.
